COVID Guidance

The short of it:

You don’t need a test to go (though it’s not a bad idea!). You do need one to come back. The Esperanza offers onsite testing mon-sat 9-5 for $50, just let them know when you want to do it. They offer same-day results. Off-property hotels should have a similar service, but if they don’t, it’s possible to get and certify your own rapid tests —tell us if you need help with that. As long as you are vaccinated, there is a 72 hour window to get your test.

Official CDC guidance:

  • You will need to get a COVID-19 viral test (regardless of vaccination status) before you travel by air into the United States. You must show your negative result to the airline before you board your flight.

    • Fully vaccinated: The viral test must be conducted on a sample taken no more than 3 days before the flight’s departure from a foreign country if you show proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

    • Not fully vaccinated: The viral test must be conducted on a sample taken no more than 1 day before the flight’s departure from a foreign country if you do not show proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

  • If you recently recovered from COVID-19, you may instead travel with documentation of recovery from COVID-19 (i.e., your positive COVID-19 viral test result on a sample taken no more than 90 days before the flight’s departure from a foreign country and a letter from a licensed healthcare provider or a public health official stating that you were cleared to travel).

Esperanza Hotel On-site Testing

Esperanza Hotel Health & Services:

The resort currently offers the Antigen Rapid Test – the test required for re-entry to the US, effective January 26, 2021 – for a fee of $50 per test.

  • Guests can have results same day and the test can be administered anytime day or night on request. There is a nurse onsite to administer the test Monday through Saturday from 9 am-5 pm. Outside these hours, a doctor visit to the property can be easily arranged and will incur an additional consultation fee. Guests may also go to the local AMC hospitals in Cabo to have the test administered.

Off-property testing

Most hotels should offer testing. Please contact your hotel if you aren’t sure, and reach out to use if you have any issues.
